LOCAL COMMUNITY GROUPS IN VICTORIA HARBOUR

Wondering where to meet new people in Victoria Harbour?

Here’s a list of different groups you can join to get active in the community while learning new skills and getting to know your neighbours.

Open Door Singers Docklands
Run by musical director Shaun Islip, Open Door Singers Docklands is a choir group that meet at Community Hub at The Dock every week. From the Bee Gees to Adele, they sing a mix of contemporary songs and time-tested classics, uniting the community in song.

Since opening its doors in Victoria Harbour three years ago, Open Door Singers Docklands now have more than 50 members, making it a great place to meet new people in the area.

Join them on Wednesdays from 5.30-7.00pm and get ready to break out in song. You can fill in the contact form on the Open Door Singers website to register your interest.

Docklands Walkers
Get some fresh air and meet new people in Victoria Harbour through Docklands Walkers. All you need to do is turn up at Docklands Park on the corner of Bourke Street and Navigation Drive at 12.10pm for an afternoon stroll with other friendly faces in the community. The 40-minute walk takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, making it the perfect opportunity to get your heart rate up and meet new people in the precinct.

Social Table Tennis
Are you the ping-pong champion of your household, ready for some fresh competition? Join in the fun of social table tennis with the Probus Club for retired and semi-retired people in the community. Running on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 9.30-11.30am, you’ll be able to test your reflexes while having plenty of laughs and engaging in some friendly competition with your neighbours. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, contact John Freeburn via the contact form on the Probus club website.

Melbourne Flames
Dragon boating is one of Australia’s fastest growing water sports and is a great way to meet new people – given our prime location on the water.

The Melbourne Flames are a socially and culturally diverse club with over 80 members ranging from ages 12 to 60+ and from 30 different nationalities. They pride themselves on fostering an inclusive and supportive team culture.
Head down and try dragon boating with the Melbourne Flames while getting a full body workout and make some new friends along the way.

The first three sessions are free, so click here to ignite your inner flame.
